Monsters
Tiers
Like characters, monsters fall into tiers. A group of tough, combat-ready adventurers should be able to take on monsters in from their own tier in roughly even numbers. Monsters from the tier below can be threatening in large numbers. (GMs are advised to use the minion rules for such hordes.) Conversely, a single monster from one tier up can challenge a whole adventuring party.
| Tier | Description |
|---|---|
| Zero | Wolves, stirges. |
| One | Generic brigands, bears, zombies. |
| Two | Trolls, manticores, giant animals. |
| Three | Hydras, medusas, giants. |
| Four | Dragons, demons, and devils. |
| Five | Demigods, demon lords. |
